View financial approvals
The Financial Approvals page is a central location where approvers can view financial documents.
Page views
The page has the following views:
- Pending: Displays the financial documents that are awaiting your approval.
- Approved: Displays the financial documents that you have personally approved, even if the document is still awaiting approval from another approver. A document that another approver has approved, but that you have not personally approved, is not displayed.
Alternate approvers
On the Pending view, you can specify an Alternate to view financial documents on behalf of another approver.
The Approved view only displays documents that you have personally approved. When you select Approved, Alternate is disabled and set to Me. When you select Pending again, your previously selected alternate is restored.
Approval type
Each document on the Financial Approvals page has an approval type, which indicates whether your approval is based on the document amount or on the document being over budget. Approval type is shown in the following places:
- In the Approval Type column, on both the Pending and Approved views. The column displays Amount or Budget.
- In a badge under the document title, when you open a document. The badge displays Amount Approval or Over Budget Approval. The badge reflects your own approval entry for the document, and can differ from the approval type that another approver sees on the same document.
If you are the over-budget approver for a document that is over budget, the Budget tab automatically expands when you open the document, and displays an alert banner. This behavior depends on whether the Enable Budget Checking checkbox is selected for the document type on the Budget Checking Setup page in Sparkrock Finance. Learn more in Set up budget checking.
